New Higher Education Policies from One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA)
Learn how the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBA) will affect veterinary school federal loan borrowing.On July 4, 2025, the president signed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, making significant changes to the federal student financial aid programs effective July 1, 2026. Learn how the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OB3) will impact federal student loan borrowing for veterinary students. These changes introduce new annual and lifetime loan limits, as well as the phase-out of the Graduate PLUS Loan for new borrowers beginning July 1, 2026.

2025-2026 Direct Loan Interest Rates
On May 6, 2025, the Treasury Department held a 10-year Treasury note auction that resulted in a high yield of 4.342%. The chart below shows the interest rates for Direct Subsidized Loans, Direct Unsubsidized Loans, and Direct PLUS Loans first disbursed on or after July 1, 2025, and before July 1, 2026.
