Admissions Overview
Attention applicants: The fall 2026 Master's Degree in One Health application can be accessed now through April 15, 2026 (11:59pm, EST). The dual DVM/MS program is only available to currently enrolled DVM students at the Shreiber School.
Welcome to the Admissions website for the Master’s Degree in One Health at the Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine of Rowan University.
Here you will find information about eligibility requirements, application components, and the stages of our selection process. Our admission review aligns with our mission to prepare future One Health professionals who are equipped to serve society in a multitude of roles.
We seek to admit a cohort of students who will thrive in a rigorous, collaborative learning environment and who demonstrate the potential to contribute meaningfully to the interdisciplinary field of One Health.
The MSOH program received internal approval through Rowan University in December 2025 and state approval in January 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
The MSOH program welcomes applicants with a strong interest in interdisciplinary health sciences and a commitment to addressing challenges at the intersection of human, animal, and environmental health.
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Academic Background:
- A bachelor’s degree (BS or BA) from an accredited institution
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 grading scale)
- Applicants educated outside the United States must submit a WES Credential Application (ICAP) credential evaluation if a non-U.S. grading scale is used.
Required Coursework:
- Chemistry (6 credits): General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry, each with a laboratory component (Online labs are accepted)
- Biology (3 credits): General Biology
- Mathematics (3 credits): Calculus or Statistics
Standardized Testing:
- GRE: Not required
- English Language Proficiency (International Applicants):
- TOEFL minimum score: 80 (minimum of 20 in each section)
- IELTS minimum score of 6.5 in each band
Letters of Recommendation:
Three letters of recommendation are required. Letters should ideally be written by individuals familiar with the applicant’s academic, professional, or research abilities.

Relevant Experience:
While not required, prior experience in animal health, human health, environmental science, research, or related disciplines is encouraged.
Applicants must submit a brief personal statement describing:
- Relevant academic, research, or professional experience
- Motivation for pursuing One Health
- How their background aligns with the interdisciplinary goals of the MSOH program.

Selection Process and Timeline
Phase 1: Submit application
February 2026-April 15, 2026 (11:59PM EST):
Applicants must submit a completed application by April 15, 2026 for Fall 2026 admission.
A completed application includes:
- Online application form
- $95 non-refundable application fee payable here
- Three letters of recommendation
- Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended
- TOEFL/IELTS scores (if applicable)
Phase 2: Application Review
Mid-April, 2026-Mid-May, 2026:
Applications are reviewed holistically, evaluating both academic and non-academic criteria. Academic Performance Evaluation:
Assessment of:
- Overall GPA
- Performance in prerequisite coursework
- Trends in academic performance
- All grades, including repeated courses
Holistic (Non-Academic ) Evaluation:
We assess attributes aligned with the SSVM mission to develop skillful, confident, and compassionate professionals. Review criteria include:
- Personal statement
- Letters of recommendation
- Motivation for a One Health career
- Relevant experiences (animal, human, environmental health)
- Community service
- Leadership, employment, and life experiences
Phase 3: Interview
Mid-May, 2026 to Mid-June, 2026:
Interviews are conducted virtually using a traditional question-and-answer format.
Interview topics may include:
- One Health experiences
- Career aspirations
- Motivation for interdisciplinary collaboration
- Clarification of submitted materials
Phase 4: Admission Offers
Mid-June, 2026 to July 15, 2026:
Following interviews, successful applicants will receive admission offers via email from: SSVM_MSOH_admissions@rowan.edu
Admitted students must confirm enrollment by July 15, 2026.

The tuition and fee schedule for the Master of Science in One Health (MSOH) program is currently pending formal approval by the Rowan University Board of Trustees.
The information below reflects projected 2026–2027 academic year rates based on current graduate tuition and fee structures. These figures are provided to assist prospective students with financial planning and are subject to change upon final approval.
Estimated Cost Per Credit
- Graduate Tuition (NJ Resident): $976 per credit
- Graduate Tuition (Non-NJ Resident): $1,211 per credit
- Student Life Fee: $44.90 per credit
- General Service Fee: $158.85 per credit
- Wellness Fee:
- $50 flat rate (full-time students enrolled in 9.0 semester hours or more)
- $5.50 per credit (part-time students enrolled in 8.99 semester hours or fewer)

How do I apply for this program?
Step 1: Submit your application here.
Step 2: Send official transcripts from all postsecondary institutions to the Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine of Rowan University. Your institution’s registrar can assist.
Step 3: Have three letters of recommendations emailed to SSVM_MSOH_admissions@rowan.edu
Step 4: International applicants must submit TOEFL or IETLS scores if their degrees were completed in a language other than English.
What is the application fee and how do I pay it?
The application fee is a one-time, non-refundable $95.00 (USD). Applicants must submit payment online here.
How many students will be accepted?
We plan to admit 10 students each fall. The inaugural class begins in Fall 2026.
Are standardized tests required?
No. The GRE or other standardized tests are not required and, if submitted, will not be evaluated.
What academic metrics are considered?
We evaluate overall GPA and performance in prerequisite coursework. Official transcripts from all postsecondary institutions, including community colleges, must be submitted. Academic performance should demonstrate readiness for a rigorous Master’s program.
Do all prerequisites have to be completed before applying?
Prerequisites may be in progress at the time of application or during the interview process. Conditional offers are contingent on the successful completion of all prerequisites before admission.
Do you accept online courses or labs?
Yes. Online courses from accredited institutions that meet the standards of equivalent in-person courses, including labs, are accepted.
Will admissions interviews be conducted in person?
No. Interviews will be conducted virtually, typically between mid-May and Mid-June 2026. Interview questions may relate to your application materials, One Health experiences, essay response, and career goals. Instructions for scheduling and completing interviews will be provided to selected applicants.

Which transcripts are required?
Submit official transcripts from all higher education institution attended, even if the coursework seems unrelated or did not result in a degree.
Can current DVM students enroll in the MSOH program as dual-degree students?
Can prospective DVM applicant apply directly to the dual DVM-MSOH program?
No. Only current SSVM DVM students are eligible. Prospective DVM students must apply separately via the Veterinary Medical College Application Service (VMCAS). Information about DVM admissions can be found here.
What are Rowan University’s deferral policies?
Accepted applicants may request a deferral of up to one year (e.g., start Fall 2027 for a Fall 2026 acceptance). Contact SSVM_MSOH_admissions@rowan.edu for deferral requests.
