Applying for Financial Aid

The process of applying for financial aid can seem overwhelming, but the Financial Aid Office at the Shreiber School is here to make it manageable and clear.

Follow the steps below to ensure you're considered for all available aid:

1. What is Financial Aid?

Financial aid helps cover your cost of education and includes student loans, scholarships, federal work-study, and external resources. Federal financial aid eligibility is based on your FAFSA application, your cost of attendance, and other factors. Financial Aid is a combination of loans, grants, scholarships, and work study.

2. Step-by-Step: Applying for Federal Financial Aid

Step 1: Complete the FAFSA each year
Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid at www.studentaid.gov. Include Rowan University’s school code: 002609. For the 2026 –2027 academic year, you’ll need 2024 tax information. The FAFSA application must be completed annually.

Step 2: Create or Access Your FSA ID
You will need your FSA ID to sign the FAFSA electronically.

Step 3: Review Your Student Aid Report (SAR)
After submitting the FAFSA, review your SAR for errors or verification selection.

If you are selected for verification, additional documents will be requested.

Step 4: Complete Verification (if selected)
If selected, you’ll need to submit additional documentation.

Visit Rowan’s Verification Help Page for instructions and tips.

Step 5: Review Your Financial Aid Offer
After you’ve been accepted and Rowan has received your FAFSA application, your personalized Financial Aid Offer Letter will be emailed to you. This includes your eligibility for federal financial aid and any institutional scholarships.

Step 6: Reduce or Decline Student Loans
You can reduce or decline any student loans that you do not wish to borrow. Please email ssvmfinaid@rowan.edu to adjust your financial aid. Remember: Student loans will need to be repaid, so only borrow what you need!
