Guidelines for withdrawal and readmission after voluntary withdrawal or involuntary dismissal

• Students may voluntarily leave (withdraw) from the professional DVM program at any time.  To withdraw, students should send a written letter to the Associate Dean for Student Success outlining their intention to withdraw and complete a Student Withdrawal form available in the Office of Academic Affairs. (https://cm.maxient.com/reportingform.php?RowanUniv&layout_id=29).  Applicable refunds will follow university policy on proration of tuition.

• Students who withdraw for voluntary reasons that consist of medical or other wellness issues, family emergencies, or other extenuating circumstances that interfered with their ability to meet their academic responsibilities may apply though written petition for readmission to the Associate Dean for Student Success.  This petition must include the reasons for withdrawing from the program and justification for how barriers to successful completion of the program have been mitigated. The Associate Dean for Student Success can readmit this student if appropriate.  If the student withdrew from the program while failing one or more courses, the petition will go to the Committee on Academic Standards for review. If readmission is denied, the student may appeal to the Dean whose decision is final. 

• Students who are dismissed involuntarily for academic or violations of the professional code of conduct may apply for readmission by written petition to the Associate Dean for Student Success.  This petition must include justification for how barriers to successful completion of the program have been mitigated. These petitions will be forwarded to the Committee on Academic Standards. If readmission is denied, the student may appeal to the Dean whose decision is final.  If readmission is granted, the student will be placed on Academic Warning status.

• Withdrawal during Semester 1:  Students who withdraw at any point during Welcome Week during their first semester will receive a 100% tuition refund.  Students who withdraw after Welcome Week and before the beginning of the sixth week of class will receive a 75% tuition refund.  For all remaining semesters, students who withdraw within the first five days of class will receive a 100% tuition refund.  For all remaining semesters, students who withdraw after the first five days of class but before the beginning of the sixth week of class will receive a 75% tuition refund.  Students who withdraw after the beginning of the sixth week of class for all semesters will not receive any tuition refund. 

• Students who are readmitted and repeating a semester after receiving an unsatisfactory grade in a course and in the remediation assessment will be required to repeat all courses for that semester.
