Accreditation
Accreditation of our program is obtained through the American Veterinary Medical Association Council on Education (COE). The COE is the U.S. Department of Education-approved accrediting agency for colleges and schools of veterinary medicine in the U.S., Canada and international institutions.
There are a series of steps each new school must follow before receiving full accreditation. Schools must adhere to 11 accreditation standards demonstrating that they offer high-quality educational experiences as outlined by the AVMA.
The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine completed a Consultative Site Visit in May 2023 and a Comprehensive Site Visit in April 2024. Successful completion of those steps led to issuance of a Letter of Reasonable Assurance which was received in October 2024. Receiving that letter from the accrediting body allowed us to open applications for our inaugural class.
New schools are eligible for Provisional Accreditation when the first cohort of students begins. A student who satisfactorily completes an accredited veterinary program may sit for the NAVLE exam necessary to obtain US licensure.
