Dr. Samantha Kochie is a board-certified veterinary cardiologist and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Cardiology Department. Dr. Kochie earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree Summa Cum Laude from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. She subsequently completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Foster Hospital for Small Animals at Tufts University in 2017, immediately followed by a combined cardiology residency and Master of Science degree at The Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center in 2020.
Following completion of her cardiology residency, Dr. Kochie practiced in high-volume private referral and academic-adjacent clinical settings. She served as a Staff Clinician in Cardiology at Oradell Animal Hospital in Paramus, NJ, where she was involved in comprehensive inpatient and outpatient case management as well as intern and resident training. She also held a position as Senior Veterinarian in Cardiology and long-term locum in interventional cardiology at the Schwarzman Animal Medical Center in Manhattan, NY, contributing to specialty cardiac care in a large, multidisciplinary referral environment while maintaining a strong role in clinical teaching and mentorship of interns and residents.
Dr. Kochie’s clinical and academic work focuses on the diagnosis and management of acquired and congenital cardiovascular diseases in companion animals, with particular expertise in cardiac imaging, congestive heart failure, arrhythmia management, and interventional cardiology. She is actively involved in clinical instruction and mentorship of veterinary students and trainees. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes critical thinking using evidence-based decision-making while maintaining meticulous and compassionate patient care.
