Cheryl Harvey, DVM Clinical Instructor, Emergency & Critical Care
Dr. Cheryl Harvey is a Clinical Instructor in the Emergency and Critical Care Department at the Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine. She was born and raised at the Jersey Shore and graduated from Rutgers University with a bachelor’s degree in animal science and a minor in equine science. After finishing her undergraduate studies, she travelled to Knoxville, Tennessee, where she earned her DVM at the University of Tennessee. Following graduation, Dr. Harvey completed an Equine Field Service and Hospital-based internship in Pittsburgh. After the year-long training program, she continued to practice in Pittsburgh for an additional year and a half as an Associate Equine Veterinarian. Dr. Harvey realized she missed the small animal emergency and critical care aspect of veterinary medicine and so moved back to Tennessee to complete an Emergency training program at the Animal Emergency and Specialty Center of Knoxville, where she then worked as an emergency clinician and overnight hospitalist for 5 years. She recently moved back to New Jersey and is excited to be a part of the state's first ever veterinary school. She is most excited to help the next generation of veterinarians hone their skills and develop confidence in their abilities. Her special interests include in hospital management of critical cases, management of trauma and feline urethral obstruction.
