Dr. William Allen is a Clinical Instructor in Emergency & Critical Care within the Department of Emergency and Critical Care. He earned both his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees from Murdoch University in Western Australia.
 
Following graduation, Dr. Allen completed a rotating internship with an emphasis on emergency & critical care at Queensland Veterinary Specialists & Pet Emergency in Brisbane, Australia. He subsequently worked as an emergency clinician at The University of Queensland Small Animal Hospital, where he contributed to both clinical case management and student training. He later continued his career in private practice after relocating to the United States, working in emergency hospitals across multiple states on both the East and West Coasts.
 
Dr. Allen’s clinical interests include emergency soft tissue surgery, point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), and critical care management. He is passionate about teaching and is pleased to return to academic practice, where he can help develop the next generation of emergency clinicians.
 
Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Allen enjoys a variety of watersports, including stand-up paddleboarding, sailing, and surfing. He also plays the bagpipes in a pipe band outside of Philadelphia and enjoys traveling, particularly exploring America’s amazing national parks.
